I hope that you've all been having a fantastic week! ;-)
So, last week, Domeek went out to the local bookstore and bought a fun new book...get this, for Me!! Oh yeahs! The book is called Feed Your Best Friend Better by Rick Woodford, the self proclaimed Dog Food Dude! It's full of nutritional information and recipes for people who want to either feed their pups completely homemade or partially homemade.
We've already learnt tons of new things...like, did you know that terriers should avoid liver treats? Pft, I had no idea...and I'm a friggin' terrier!! Supposedly, we are preconditioned to accumulate excessive amounts of copper in our livers, which can result in some nasty illnesses, so treats with liver in them should be avoided! Gasp!
We've also already tested out two of the recipes, the first was a blueberry pancake that I could share with Domeek (that was Saturday's breakfast!), can you say nummy?! ;-)
And the second is called French Kiss Cookies...cause it helps give pups some lovely fresh breaths!
Ingredients:
1 cup of Beef, Chicken, or Fish Stock (make sure it doesn't contain onion) - I chose chicken stock
1 cup of finely chopped Fresh Parsley
1 cup of finely chopped Fresh Mint
2 tablespoons Canola Oil
2 1/3 cups of Whole Wheat Flour (plus more for rolling out)
Directions:
First you have to chop, heat, and combine all the ingredients...
Then you have to knead the dough and roll into a ball...
Roll the dough out and cut into your preferred shape, I chose bones and fire hydrants! ;-)
After throwing them in the oven for about 25 - 45 minutes (30 minutes made the cookies crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle), let them cool...
...and EAT!!!
Nom Noms!!!
Seriously dudes and dudettes...you all know how picky an eater I am, but man, I devoured these cookies!! :-D Every time that Domeek goes into the kitchen, I keep thinking that I am going to get another one...hehehe!!
You guys all have to try this stuff!!! ;-)
Ok guys, I'm off to bother Domeek again...have a great Tuesday!! :-D
They must be fantastic--the way you gobbled them up. Alas, our oven broke the other day. We won't be getting homemade treats for awhile.

ReplyDeleteYum! We love making cookies that freshen up Kolchak's breath. He's cute, but sometimes stinky. Thanks for joining in Tasty Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteWow! You are so lucky to have a mom that bakes for you. Glad you liked your cookies since you can be picky (I pretty much eat anything). Hope to see more of the creations.

Picky eater? I love picky eaters. I'll eat all the leftovers.
ReplyDeleteYum! We'll have to try that recipe and we could use the mint we've got growing in the garden and substitute some homemade (vegan) vegetable stock - yes, without onions. We love your fire hydrant cookie cutter! Gotta find one of those.
