A Trip Into The Redwoods

Happy Sunday and Monday Everyone!!!

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend!! :-D

Well, as you remember, I got to go to the giant and old Redwoods on Sunday...and I even was able to take my very first train ride!! It was very exciting!!

Freckles the Dog

We went to a place called Roaring Camp Railroads in the Santa Cruz mountains! They have two trains, one that goes through the redwood forest and another that goes all the way down to the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk. But, since I'm not allowed on the boardwalk, we decided on the forest train!

Freckles the Dog

There were quite a few people at the railroad, so we had to hang out a bit in the town and get some lunch before catching the next train!

The town is really large and allows pups wherever they want to wander, as long as they are on leash. :-)

When we finally jumped on the train, we had to sit in the caboose (cause it's the only car that allows wheelchairs, not because of me! ;-p ) but it was the coolest and shadiest, so we didn't mind one bit!! :-D

I enjoyed looking out of the back, where we had been, instead of looking out the windows! But, to be quite honest, I thought that the train was a bit boring and fell asleep for most of the journey!

Since we were in the middle of the forest, there were tons of smells that I enjoyed too!!

Just look at those trees and sticks!!! :-D

When we got halfway, the train stopped and we were allowed to jump out, have a sniff, and a pee and take a look around! We found this gigantic redwood stump that I wanted to take a closer look at...its size is crazy, huh?!

Domeek and I loved this particular fallen tree!

Isn't it beautiful?!

Then it was back on the train again....yawn!!! ;-)

All in all though, the trip was fantastic!! :-D

Thanks for dropping by, have a great rest of the day everyone!!

  1. You got to get on a REAL train! We're impressed even if you were a bit bored. That stump was huge. Good thing you could get out to have a close look.

Cannot believe you aren't allowed on a boardwalk!

  5. That was My Moms favorite part of living in California - she Loved going to the redwoods- thankfully Mom and Dad didn't live to far from Muir Woods. Mom says she still remembers the peace and tranquility there, the clean freshness of the air and the deer that came right up behind her as she was sitting on a log enjoying the quiet. You are so lucky to have gone to visit the trees

  8. Wow! That was a beautiful train ride! Thank you for sharing it with us! We don't have trains like that around here, at least none that would allow a dog aboard! (so unfair) But Holly did get to ride the train from NYC back home, after she went to Westminster. :) It was all enclosed though, and didn't give a dog a chance to sniff any new smells at all!
