Treasure Thursday

Happy Thursday Everyone!!

I've been posting too much during the last couple of days, huh?! ;-) I guess there's so much going on! As always it's Treasure Thursday, which means that I'll be featuring three different shelters/rescue groups and three amazing dogs that need wonderful homes!

The first weekend in the November (November 2-4), is pretty important this year as it's PetSmart Charities National AdoptionWeekend, sponsored by PetSmart, Purina® Pro Plan® and Tidy Cats®. Thousands of dogs and cats will hopefully find their forever homes during that weekend, just in time for the Holiday Season! There's nothing better than having a warm bed, a full tummy, and a wonderful family to love you!! Don't you all agree?

The adoption weekend will be taking place in the US, Canada, and even Puerto Rico! And along with their normal adoption fees, each shelter/rescue will receive $35 in adoption reward grants from PetSmart Charities for each animal adopted during the weekend! Whoa! That's pretty incredible, isn't it? :-D

So, in order to pass along information, help out a couple of shelters/rescues, and get the word out...I've decided to focus on three groups that have agreed to participate in the adoption weekend!

My first featured dog's name is Blackie, a beautiful schnauzer and lab mix, currently being adopted out through the Humane Societyof Forsyth County in Cumming, Georgia! " The Humane Society of Forsyth County in Cumming, Georgia is dedicated to preventing cruelty to, relieving the suffering of, and providing humane treatment for animals. We stand by the fact that we are one of a few NO-KILL shelters in this area."

If you are interested in seeing Blackie in person, or perhaps meeting another amazing dog or cat, the Humane Society will be at the PetSmart in Cumming (1020 Market Place Boulevard) during November 2-4! My second featured dog's name is Dixie, who's had a rough start in life, but isn't letting it get her down! She is currently being adopted through the Delaware Humane Association in Wilmington, Delaware. " The Delaware Humane Association (DHA) is Delaware’s first no kill animal shelter and adoption center. We are committed to providing for the needs of homeless dogs and cats in our community."

If you are interested in seeing Dixie in person, or even meeting one of their other amazing dogs or cats, the Delaware Humane Association will be at two different PetSmart locations: cats and kittens will be available in the Brandywine Town Center, Wilmington and cats and dogs at Christiana in Newark, Delaware! My third and final featured dog's name is Buster Brown (how amazing is his name?) a gorgeous corgi mix from Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary in Middle, Tennessee! " FFAS is dedicated to rescuing abused, abandoned and neglected animals in and around Middle TN area. We encourage proper pet care and advocate spaying and neutering to help stop pet overpopulation. We currently use a system of foster homes to house all the animals in our care."

If you are interested in seeing either Buster Brown or one of their other amazing dogs or cats available, Freedom Farms' volunteers will be at the PetSmart in Rivergate during that weekend! Friday and Sunday will only feature cats and kittens, however Saturday dogs will be invited along! Wordless Wednesday - It's A Baby!

Ok, not exactly Wordless...but Less Wordy Wednesday! ;-)

Two nights ago Domeek and I were able to catch one of the feral kittens that are living on our property (yes, the collective "we" did it)!

We've named it, lazily enough, Baby!

This morning, we got up super early and took it to get fixed (TNR dudes)...we found out that 1. It's a boy, 2. He's 3.4 lbs so around 3 - 4 months old, and 3. He's got tapeworms (ewwww...)!

But now he's back at home, where he'll be recovering for the next three days and then released back to his Dad (Kittie) and other sibling! :-)

It's BarkBox Time!

(Precursor to Wordless Wednesday...later this afternoon)

Oooo, look what showed up on the doorstep this evening!

Oh yeah, it's definitely BarkBox time!

I could barely keep still when I finally got the darn box open, thus the blurry photo! I instantly fell in love with one of the toys - Mr. Snake from Lollycadoodle!

According to BarkBox, Mr. Snake is supposed to be a "fun and durable toy"...bahahaha, challenge accepted! :-D

That pile of fluff in the bag is all the woolen felt that I yanked out of Mr. Snake! :-D I'm really proud of myself right now! I'm pretty sure that he'll be completely de-stuffed by tomorrow morning!!

Rain, Sun, and a Random Review

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Man oh man, did it rain last night! When I woke up this morning (and it was still raining) everything was covered with water! My town floods at the best of times, so we weren't surprised when the water met us at the back door!

Domeek threw my rain jacket on, picked me up, and headed down the stairs and do you know what I did? Hehe! I flat out refused to pee! Yep, I just stood there with the raining coming down and looked at her! Do any of you do this? I held it for a few hours, until the rain stopped, and then screamed at her to let me out!

Luckily, this afternoon, the sun came out and I got to go outside and sunbathe! 

It felt great! :-D I also found a leaf in the yard, then proceeded to break it into tiny pieces around me!

We also saw some of my wilder friends!

Kittie and a random birdie that has been hanging out at our house for a few days!

Domeek got to work on a project, as soon as she got home and then I had to model said project! Urg!

 

She ordered a custom doggie shirt from Cafe Press for the B-day! She was super excited about it, until it came in the mail. 

Just as an FYI, for all of you that are thinking about using Cafe Press: the quality of the doggie hoodie is questionable at best; it's thin, wrinkles easily, is almost see through in a couple of places, runs quite small, and only comes in 3 colors (baby butt pink, robin's egg blue, and white). Then, when we received it, we saw that the image was pretty darn crooked (and no, it wasn't crooked online) and the colors were very muted instead of popping! We've bought human items from them before and haven't had any problems, so I don't know what's going on with their doggie line!

But, since we don't have time to order another one, Domeek decided to make it better and bedazzle the sucker! So we got iron on lettering and jewels from Michael's then voila, a bit better, huh?! 

I wasn't the greatest model, from behind...so you get my front and profile instead! ;-)

I think I look pretty handsome, don't you?! :-D

I hope that you all had a wonderful and exciting time doing whatever you were doing!

I have to say, I'm getting really bored about doing nothing! :-/ Wah Wah! [Complaining Time] I want to go to the dog park and hang out with all my buds, I want to go hiking before the rain starts pouring down, and I want to go on really long walks around the neighborhood (and not just down one side of the street and up the other)! Thankfully I only have five days left in my solitary confinement, just in time for my birthday extravaganza this weekend!!! Unfortunately though, I don't think that my knee problem is going away, which means that we'll be meeting with a surgeon sooner rather that later!

The weather's been changing this week too, one second it's 80 degrees and the next (currently, see photo above) it's 50 degrees...brrrr!!

Oh, for all of you that remember, Nola's Toy and Treat Swap reveal has been postponed a week due to packages being delivered late! So we'll be posting about them next Monday, stay tuned! ;-)

The Sweetest Day

Happy Saturday Everyone! :-D

It's official, today (Saturday, October 20th) is the Sweetest Day in the country!

Doesn't that just make you smile? :-D The Sweetest Day was created in 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio by a local candy maker who thought that there should be one day a year where cheer and happiness could be brought to those who were normally forgotten! Whether they were children in orphanages, the sick, the disabled, those who couldn't leave their homes...this was their day to feel good and be happy!

90 years later, the holiday has slightly morphed into a day where you celebrate all the individuals that make your life special! :-D

So, today I am dedicating my post and blog to all of you! Those of you who drop by everyday: smile, laugh, share a thought, and be a part of my little life! I'm a better pup because of all of you! :-D Thank you!!

I decided to take Domeek out to lunch at Paris Baguette, one of my favorite cafe and dessert creators, in order to celebrate The Sweetest Day (cause, she's the most important person) and while I was there, I bought you all a nummy cake! ;-D Enjoy!

You're very welcome!! Hehe!! (In Blogville, we can even eat chocky!)

I had a wonderful time on their patio and enjoyed (ok, well I shared) a delicious custard filled croissant!!! Licking my lips right now as I think of it!

People watching and snacking was extremely exhausting, so I had to take a nap while I was there too!

Whatever you do today, try to take a moment and thank a special someone in your life for all that they do! :-D

Treasure Thursday/Almost Friday

Oh my goodness, so much to do today but so little time! ;-)

Happy Thursday/Almost Friday everyone!!

My new Sherpa airline carrier came in the mail two days ago, you should have seen me! I was so excited to get the box open and as soon as it was, I proceeded to completely ignore it! ;-) Hehehe! But this morning before Domeek went to work, I decided to give it a try...it's shorter than my old SturdiBag, but I'm pretty sure it will do!

I did fall in love with my new Sleepytime Tonic though, the smell is intoxicating...yum!!! It's supposed to be a natural calming solution for both traveling and anxiety problems. I haven't tried it out yet, but I do love the smell!!

Today, I decided to focus on three awesome rescue groups that find desperate and needy pups from outside the country (Taiwan, Costa Rica, and Mexico) and then send them over to the United States and Canada to find perfect forever homes!

My first featured pup's name is Hamlet, a beautiful dog who was found wandering the streets of Mexico City, currently being fostered and adopted out by Save A Mexican Mutt Rescue in San Miguel de Allende (however they foster throughout Mexico, USA, and Canada). Save A Mexican Mutt, or SAMM, is a dog rescue and adoption organization in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. Dogs are rescued from the streets, local kill shelters and pounds where they've suffered from neglect, abuse, starvation and illness. They are placed in loving foster homes, fully vetted, and brought back to good health.

However, if you are interested in seeing other dogs, breeds, and genders Save A Mexican Mutt has a plethora of dogs available that need wonderful homes!

My second featured dog's name is Fei Fei (I love his name) who is a gorgeous Taiwanese street dog found and rescued by Salty Dog Rescue in Seattle, Washington. Salty Dog Rescue is dedicated to saving dogs that have been abandoned, abused or neglected both locally and internationally. From dogs saved on the streets of Taiwan to local dogs in need, regardless of breed, our foster based non-profit organization cares passionately and will work endlessly to rescue, rehabilitate and responsibly match dogs with their forever families.
