Check Out My New Ride...

Domeek surprised me after work last night with a new toy...except this one was waaaaay cooler than a normal toy!! :-D

Freckles the Dog Snoozer

It's called the Snoozer Rear Bike Basket Carrier!!

Since the weather is getting cooler now, we decided that it's time to start bike riding (a new experience for moi)...some of you larger dogs might run beside the bike with a bike attachment, but I have bad knees and am a little bit too small to do this! So, Domeek went ahead and got me a fun new carrier!!

There are a lot of choices available on the market...most of which are super cute and attached to the front of the bicycle (Sleepypod, Snoozer, Solvit, and PetGear are just a few examples) and then two wheelers that look like kids bike carriers. The only problem with 3/4 of the options are that they are geared towards pups that are 13-15 lbs maximum...well, I'm 15 lbs and have pretty long legs, so if I gain even an ounce or more of weight, I'm too heavy for them and then there's safety issues! :-( This just wasn't a chance that Domeek was willing to take! Sleepypod is a fantastic option, but they were out of our price range.

So, Domeek decided to get the Rear Bike Basket Carrier!! As long as you get a bike rack, this carrier can hold pups up to 24 pounds in weight, which is almost 10 pounds heavier than the other options! :-)

Freckles the Dog Snoozer

Considering that we have the Snoozer Lookout II for my car seat, Domeek knew that I would love this one, especially since they are almost identical!!

Freckles the Dog Snoozer

Although it looks incredibly large in the photos, the carrier has small square footage for the tush so if you are a pup with a big rear end, this might not be the best option for you! Sir Mix-A-Lot loved the butts, but Snoozer doesn't feel the same way. ;-)

Freckles the Dog Snoozer
Ginger is totally photo bombing all my shots today...grrrr!

Considering I don't have a the greatest love for bikes, Domeek was a bit worried that I might not enjoy being near, let alone sitting on one of them...but luckily for her, I like to feel the wind in my fur and the speed in my ears! ;-)

Freckles the Dog Snoozer
Remember to wear a harness when using a bike carrier...we weren't riding when these photos were taken.

I took to the carrier, like a duck to water!! :-D We went on a quick practice run around the block, to make sure that I was cool with riding...then when we came back, I asked Domeek almost immediately to put me back on the bike...so we went back out again!

Freckles the Dog Snoozer

We cycled about a mile and a half away to a nifty neighborhood park, where I got to run around and smell a ton of peemail...

Freckles the Dog

then it was back on the bike again - heading back home!

Freckles the Dog Snoozer

All in all, this was a wonderful first experience riding a bicycle..and I didn't even have to use training wheels to begin with! ;-) Muahaha!!

So here are my thoughts on the Snoozer Rear Bike Basket Carrier:

Pros
~ Super, duper comfortable and plush
~ Removable and washable cover
~ Has a fantastic reflective stripe across the back for evening rides
~ The carrier doesn't move...it has three straps that hold it in place on the bike frame
~ The price is comparable to most bike carriers
~ Holds pups up to 24 pounds

Cons
~ The tush circumference thing...
~ Although waterproof, the carrier doesn't have a rain cover like others in the Snoozer line
~ It's rear facing, which means that you can't keep a constant eye on the furry one

All in all though, a wonderful product!! I can't wait to get back out on the road again!! Perhaps, one day, we'll be able to get a photo of us both on the bike...a little hard when you don't have another human around! ;-) We're going to head out to the Bay this weekend!

So, I know a couple of you have a two wheeler, but do any of you ride on the bike with your pawrent? What do you use?

Oh yeah, we bought the Snoozer...no one asked us to do a review! Just loved it and wanted to let you all know about it! ;-)

Holy Swag Batman!!

Happy Happy Friday Everyone!!

My dog, first off let me just complain that Domeek didn't get home in time for the dog park last night because Armageddon was happening on the Bay Area roads...it took her one whole hour to drive 2 miles from work to home! Isn't that insane?! I complained a bunch to her, but she didn't listen or care!! Pft! Instead, we just had a long walk around the neighborhood...but it just wasn't the same! Boo! :-(

Luckily though, there were 3 boxes waiting on the doorstep and guess what?! They were all for ME!! Yeah baby! :-D

Two of the boxes were my prizes from EventBarkers and Dr. Emmo after the #Pet1stAid Twitter party!

Freckles the Dog

Freckles the Dog

Yeah, I'm a bit impatient when it comes to packages...sometimes I think that Domeek's boxes are mine too, then I get mad! ;-)

Freckles the Dog

Dr. Emmo sent me a ton of their first aid products including: wound rinse, wound gel, ear rinse, and eye rinse! What's great about their products is that they are all safe to lick and sting free, which means no owies! Ok, so maybe I don't want to get hurt, but man, if I do...I'm soooooo set!! ;-) Hehehe!

Freckles the Dog

Then the seriously pawesome EventBarkers sent me a whole bunch of their sponsors' products! Eeekk!!

Freckles the Dog

Impatience showing again! ;-) This little guy is a Petlinks scents of security toy. When your pawrent leaves, they can put a piece of clothing or personal item inside of him, then you'll feel happy and secure like he/she is with you!

Freckles the Dog

I was also lucky enough to receive a Gamma2 travel pet food container...hehehe, it looks massive next to me, but it holds more than 6 cups of pup food in an airtight and fresh sealed container! Not only great for traveling, but also to keep in your ever-growing disaster or first aid kit! ;-)

Freckles the Dog

Finally, the package included a bunch of pet first aid tips (which I'm totally reading in the photo above) from the super knowledgeable Arden Moore and a reusable pet bandage from Healer's Pet Care! I'm pretty sure that thanks to this win and a product from my latest Barkbox (the third package) my first aid kit is completely and utterly complete!! WooHoo!

Freckles the Dog

Thanks to everyone that participated in the Twitter party...I learnt soooooo much!

I hope that you all have a fantastic weekend...I'm off to Bark in the Park on Saturday morning where I hope to at least take a look at a Flyball demonstration (if not participate in a clinic that the group is offering), check out all the latest local dog and cat vendors, and listen to a couple of great talks (one, hopefully from my favoritist doggie trainer!). I just hope that it doesn't rain too much! Then on Sunday evening, I'm off to cousin Pippi's house for a playdate and dinner! Whoop Whoop!!

Take care everyone!

"Stopped they must be; on this all depends."

Happy Labor Day Everyone!! :-D

And again I quote "Stopped they must be; on this all depends"...who said this quote? If you guessed Yoda from Star Wars, you'd be correct! ;-)

Alas, after seeing all of your pawesome posts about BarkWorld and the new Petco Star Wars collection, Domeek was inspired to stop by and check out their new stuff...that's when this happened!

Freckles the Dog

Good Dog! Nooooooo...

Hurumph...then this happened!

Freckles the Dog

I'm soooooo embarrassed! :-/ The Yoda ears...really?! Urg! (Hehe, this was the last time Domeek got the ears on me and managed to take a photo!) For the record, Petco is giving away the Yoda ears for free when you buy anything from their Star Wars collection, Domeek didn't buy them (cause she knew I'd say "Hell no!"), hehehe!

Freckles the Dog

She loved the shirt's saying "Judge Me By My Size, Do You?" - So Me!!

Freckles the Dog

To make things worse, she waited until I had a bath to give me the shirt! :-/

Freckles the Dog

This is my "Really?" face! ;-) Hehehe!

Freckles the Dog

Little Bit however loved their new kitty toys! Domeek got her the Yoda and Chewbacca mice! They're really cute, so I hope that she knocks them on the floor, cause I'll steal them then! Hehe, that's Chewbacca's butt in the photo!

Freckles the Dog

Okee dokee, while I try and find my manhood again, you guys go out and enjoy the rest of your Holiday vacation! :-D

Friday Finds

Happy Friday Everyone!! :-D

I hope that most of you have today and Monday off...Domeek's at home right now!! Yeah (of course I'm celebrating this long weekend by napping the entire morning, hehehe)!

Freckles the Dog Friday Finds

For some reason I've been seeing a ton of different dog related products on the internets this week, some of which are really nifty, so I thought I'd share a few with you guys!

Freckles the Dog

I know that a bunch of your pawrents are crafty types, so how about a fantabulous origami dog book? Apparently even those who are new to paper folding art can figure out how to create your best friend's image! :-D

Freckles the Dog

Paper Pups by Hiroshi Hayakaw contains 35 different dog breeds and only costs $9.87 on Amazon (Domeek is putting this one on the Christmas remember list)! :-)

Freckles the Dog

Most of the artwork in our house is dog or cat related (hahaha, I make sure of it), so when we saw this clean and simple typography image, Domeek and I got a little excited!

If you're not in kindergarten or don't want the entire alphabet, WeaversofSouthsea on Etsy also has each of the individual letters and dog breeds on their own print as well! :-D Me gusta!

Freckles the Dog

Dog Alphabet Poster by WeaversofSouthsea is available on Etsy for $19.00!

Freckles the Dog

This one is for the quilters and sewers among you! ;-) Emily Bond of England has an entire collection of dog related linen fabrics, housewares, and wallpaper inspired by her own beautiful pups!

From setters to terriers, dalmatians to dachshunds, and spaniels to labradors, each has their own whimsical design!

Freckles the Dog

Emily Bond of England fabrics, accessories, and wallpaper aren't cheap, but they are absolutely beautiful. Be sure to check her website out!

Freckles the Dog

Finally, I'm sure most of you have heard about the phenomenon that is Maddie On Things, but I have to put her book here! I just found out that the Maddie Book Tour is coming to San Francisco on September 9th so Domeek and I will be heading out to see both Maddie and Theron then! Luckily they are hosting the event at a dog-friendly bookstore, so all pups are welcomed with open paws!

Freckles the Dog

Their current project (partnered with PurinaOne) is called Why We Rescue, it's a documentary that travels across all 50 states highlighting how pets and rescue animals have transformed human lives for the better! They will be focusing in on one shelter/rescue pet per state and guess what? They need more stories (mainly on the central and west coast)!! :-D Make sure you click on the link above and check out the project, then if you are interested in telling your story click on the Sign Up tab!

I can't wait to hear all about their adventures and meet Maddie!

Maddie on Things by Theron Humphrey is available at Chronicle Books for $15.95

See how many pawesome items people are creating and selling that have been inspired by dogs?! It's pretty incredible! :-D I posted these and more on Pinterest, so make sure you follow me there for more creations!

Have an excellent long weekend everyone! Enjoy the end of summer weather and some quality time with the family!

Oh What A Beautiful Feeling - Review

Happy Thursday Everyone!! :-D

I hope that you all are having a wonderful week!

It's been a really long time since I wrote a review, but a couple of weeks ago, a new friend from Cardinal Pet Care contacted me about taking a look at one of their client's products!

Freckles the Dog Viva La Dog Spa

Viva La Dog Spa is a fantastic company that creates beautiful, aromatic, and genius doggie grooming supplies! If you need it or want it...they have it - from shampoos, to conditioners, spritzes, facial wipes, and even fragrances and emery boards! Their products are plentiful and have beautiful packaging (and I'm a Dude saying that!)!

What makes the company even more special is the fact that they are seriously focused on their facility's carbon footprint! All of their products are manufactured in the US, in a 100% solar powered facility, all of their products' are biodegradable and all of the packaging is recyclable (even in Island nations)! :-D I say "Kudos to you guys!"!!

Freckles the Dog

We were asked to take a look at their Rescue Me - Deep Conditioner, which is a really rich conditioner that works for both pups and humans alike! It was supposedly created for Poodles, Cotton de Tulears, Maltese, Shih Tzus, L’Hasa Apsos, Bichons and Bedlingtons...but any pup who suffers from dry and matted furs will get fantastic use out of it (says the Jack Russell mix)! :-D

Freckles the Dog

Freckles the Dog

I tell you, every time I take a look at their stuff, I feel a bit more French! ;-)

Freckles the Dog

Freckles the Dog

The conditioner is incredibly thick and has a wonderful scent...I couldn't stop sniffing the stuff!

Freckles the Dog

We had to leave it on for 5 - 8 minutes and then comb/brush out all of the tangles (which was easier to do after using Rescue Me) before rinsing...we're not used to having to wait, but the time went really quickly and before we knew it, it was time to rinse!

Freckles the Dog

Freckles the Dog

Don't I look spiffy?!

Freckles the Dog

Man, doesn't bathing make you humans exhausted too?! I was super pooped after the whole ordeal! Grrrr...ruff!

And the results?!

Freckles the Dog

Check out that fabulous looking fur!! Insane, ain't it?! I'm one good looking dude now! ;-)

Freckles the Dog

As you can see in this close up - smoother...shinier...tangle free! :-D

All in all, I found that the Rescue Me - Deep Conditioner was a great product that lived up to it's hype! :-D My fur is smoother and has far less tangles since I used it - oh and the very chic scent lasts for quite a while too...mmm, mmm, good! And at $10.49 a tube, the product is totally worth it!

I give their product 2 paws up and I'm definitely going to be checking out Viva La Dog Spa's other products, especially their oatmeal shampoo as I tend to get a lot of hot spots and irritations! Make sure that you take a look at all their products too!!

Thanks for dropping by everyone and have a great day!!

A Different Kind Of Bunny

Happy Wordless (Bahahaha) Wednesday Everyone!

I'd like to introduce you all to a new friend of mine...as you will, a different kind of Bunny! ;-)

Have you met him before? Well, if not, this is the Leaping Bunny! I only met him a couple of days ago, when I read about the EU's recent ban on all cosmetic product animal testing!! :-D That's right, the EU, after 23 years of immense campaigning, have finally banned all animal testing on all new cosmetics!!! Wonderful news, isn't it?!

The Leaping Bunny lets consumers know that a particular product and/or brand has gone through a rigorous 'cruelty-free' certification process and that no part of its product development, ingredients or final product have been tested on animals!

Even though the ban only exists in the EU, the Bunny lives on Worldwide, so please check the packaging on all your cosmetics, household, and even some pet products and see if the Bunny visits your home too! ;-)

We were sad to see that only 10-15% of the products used in our house were deemed Bunny worthy! :-( If you would like to see what companies have passed certification, please click here!

Happy Wednesday Everyone!!

Let's Try Out This App Thing...

Happy Friday and Saturday Everyone!! WooHoo, it's the weekend!! :-D

And, of course, a belated Happy Pip and Puddles Appreciation Day! I hope that the festivities were absolutely insane!! :-D Well deserved titles and merriment were given!!

You might think that I'm a technologically advanced and crazy pup, waiting in a long line overnight when the new iPhone 10 comes out, cause, well, I'm a pup with a blog...but, you'll be surprised to know that I'm the complete opposite! I might have a laptop and a smart phone, but other than knowing how to type, write emails, and use the internets...I'm just your average doggie!

But, Domeek and I got excited this morning while tweeting because we came across the top 10 Must-Have Apps for Dog Owners! There were quite a few really cool apps: Tagg (a GPS collar attachment for wandering pups), iCam (watch your pup in real-time when you're at work or traveling), and Petoxins (an ASPCA app that lets you know all the plants and vegetation that are harmful to us)!

Our favorite app though was MapMyDogWalk, which is a fantabulous app that encourages physical fitness for both pup and human! You can log your favorite walkie locations, track how many calories that you burn during your training, and map out all your perfect routes using GPS! Kind of cool! :-D So, we downloaded the android app and had the perfect opportunity to use it this afternoon!!

Freckles the Dog

Ok, so we might not have gone all crazy and walked 5 miles, but we did test this sucker out a bit at the Bayshore Park!

Freckles the Dog

This is where we parked...

Freckles the Dog

Ok Domeek, let's get this walk started!!

Freckles the Dog

According to MapMyDogWalk, we climbed around 72 feet during the walk! Not too shabby for a sea level dude!

Freckles the Dog

I even had to take a water (and dehydrated cheese) break at the peak, phew!!
;-D

Freckles the Dog

Alright, we have time for a quick posing photo! ;-D

Freckles the Dog

Time for the descent...I think the perfect kind of a path!

Freckles the Dog

I'll take the high road and you'll take the low road...and I'll get theeeerrrreeee afore ye!!

Freckles the Dog

We're still playing around and exploring the app, but from what we've seen so far...we're hooked! You can share your walks on Facebook, Twitter, and on your website (but we're still working on this one...not showing up how we want)! Pretty darn cool!

I give it 2 paws up!!

Freckles the Dog

I'm sure that we'll be using it for most of our upcoming hikes...especially since it tracks distance!

Make sure to check it out...worth a couple of minutes in downloading (since it's free)!

Have a great weekend everyone!!
