If you can't tell already...this ain't going to be Wordless today! ;-D
Well, this morning I had the big Annual Exam at the V-E-T and let's just say, it didn't go as well as Domeek and I had hoped :-/ but we'll get to that...
To begin with, we got to the Dogtor's a little early, even though the traffic was horrendous (hehehe, Domeek used a few other words to say that), so we hoped out of the car and took a little walkie and markie!
Then it was off to see my Vet friends! First off, I was "ooooo'd" and "awwww'd" at by the lovely receptionists, yeah, my puppy charms still work on them! ;-) Then I had my weight taken ... 13.5 pounds, at which point Domeek obnoxiously states that I feel a whole lot heavier than that, (Pft, raspberries to you Domeek!) but everyone said that I was a great weight! :-)
Then we waited and waited and waited! Unfortunately there were two emergency cases that came in during my appointment, so we were almost an hour cooped up in that little exam room...I couldn't stop trying to look underneath the door to see what everyone was doing! Yes, I'm a nosy little dude!
Finally Dr. Jones came in to see me...woohoo...then the exam started and I desperately wanted him to leave! :-(
Besides getting my annual vaccines and a heart worm test, Domeek told the Dogtor that she's noticed some allergy issues during the last couple of weeks (sniffly, coughing, and red, ichy eyes) so she wanted to have those checked out. Well, it's no surprise, but I definitely have allergies...we have no clue to what's causing it, but hopefully with the pills that I've been given they will go away in a couple of weeks! Dr. Jones also saw that my eyelids roll in a bit, so that is why I constantly have tear stains on my cheeks and it's also why I can't clear the pollen right now! Considering that my case isn't drastic or dangerous, he said that I could have cosmetic surgery to fix it or I could just deal with the tear stains...so, that's what we'll do!
Then, Domeek brought up my past "knee problem"...since I haven't been limping or messing with it, she just wanted to make sure that agility wasn't aggravating it. :-( Well, it turns out...that I'm a really good actor! Apparently my knee hasn't gotten any better and, in fact, has gotten worse! Dr. Jones kept on moving it and showing that the patella didn't pop back it by itself automatically (see the image below, my knee is like #5), he did this a bunch of times, then had the audacity to claim that I no longer wanted him to touch my leg...well, duh, dude!! Let me pop your knee back and forth a bunch of times and see if you want me to touch you too! :-/ Hm?!
So, it figures, I'm destined for surgery! Now, it's not an emergency case, but he thinks that I should get it done as soon as possible to make sure that I don't do any further damage to the side of my groove, which might cause a longer surgery! :-/ I just have to say "this blows!" cause I thought that I was doing a great job faking it!! I have to go back for a follow-up in 2 weeks, so we'll be discussing the whole thing then!
Feeling sorry for myself post needle jabs! |
The good - I don't have to stop doing agility class before surgery and besides allergies, I'm as healthy as an ox!
The bad - well...my knee and now I'm having tummy issues after my vaccines!
Don't get me wrong, lots of pups have way more and worse problems than me; I'm lucky, cause after surgery my knee shouldn't give me problems (hopefully)...but for tonight at least, it still blows! :-(
So there you all are!! I just hope that next year's annual is way less stressful!!
Oh, Goose, I'm sorry your knee is out of sorts, buddy! You must be a pretty tough pup to hide it so well! I hope that surgery will fix it right up :) And I hope your tummy feels better right away!
ReplyDeleteHope your surgery goes well and wish you a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteThere is a product I've heard of before called "Angel Eyes" that is supposed to stop tear staining. You put it in your food, not that it really matters since it's just a cosmetic thing anyways. Lots of little dogs like you get a luxating patella. Too bad yours needs surgery :(
ReplyDeleteWe actually used to use Angel Eyes, but it stopped working a few months later...but thanks for the recommendation! :-)
DeleteI have allergies too and the last week they have been especially bad. So sorry to hear about that knee, I hope that goes well for you. At least you still get to do agility though.
ReplyDeleteKelsey
Oh no!!! It's not the surgery as much as the RECOVERY TIME and trying to stay quiet!
ReplyDeleteHope the allergies sort themselves out.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Oh no, not surgery. That will mean prison. We hope you can avoid it. Sorry about your allergies. Sending POTP and we hope all will be well. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
It will be difficult keeping still after surgery, I hope it all goes smoothly.
ReplyDeleteAw Goose, sorry about your knee but better to do something about it now so it doesn't get worse. I am pretty sure Mom will treat you real special after though so you will at least get LOTS of special attention after and tons of special treats I bet :) Keeping you in me and Max's prayers :)
ReplyDeleteWoof! Woof! Oh NO ... Wishing you the best on your surgery. Crossing my Golden Paws for your early recovery. Happy BlogPaws WW. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeletePoor Freckles - welcome to the bad knee club - we both have bad knees here too. They found Denny has arthritis in his front right knee and will eventually need surgery - until then the cortisone shots in his knee really help him.
ReplyDeleteThat does blow - BIG time! You know what though, better to get it taken care of now before it gets really bad. Be sure and let us know what the doctor says when you go back.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww... I feel your pain... WOOF!
ReplyDeleteDarn it. I know that surgery is going to be rough, but in the end, you will be feeling so much better because of it. Milk this for all you can and get some extra treats out of it!! :)
ReplyDeleteAren't allergies just the worst, since spring is starting around here we've got the same problems.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your knee though, I'd get it fixed so you'll feel better sooner!
You poor baby. We hope everything goes well for you so you can heal real fast.
ReplyDeleteOh, don't you just hate it when the stupid vet ruins your whole scheme?!? WTD? Well, at least you are healthy and do not have any emergency issues. I am sure you will do fine with surgery...you can just fake not being in pain then too.
ReplyDeleteHi there, Surgery sounds pretty darn serious if you ask me!
ReplyDeleteYou weigh almost the same as Hunter and I think it is perfect. Tell your mom that you can take Benedryl too-just have to cut the dosage way down.
Have a great evening.
Noreen & Hunter
See, we are perfect! ;-D
DeleteOh no, Domeek is deathly allergic to Benedryl, so that stuff can't even be in the house! Haha, no death by doggie allergy meds, while I'm on watch!
Aw Goose, you were such a good sport at the v-e-t. Sorry to hear about the bad news, but at least it's something treatable, right??!! Let us know how everything goes!
ReplyDeleteGoose, Jozi will be thinking about you when you have your surgery...here is to fast healing!

Hope all goes well with your knee surgery and we agree…it does blow!
ReplyDeleteOh no! That is exactly what Stanley's knees do! Did your knee cap stop going back in? If it did you are a very good actor so maybe you should think about going to Hollywood! We are so sorry for your knee troubles.

;-) Miss Rachel (my agility trainer) thinks that I look like a Hollywood pup anyways, so why not?! Hehehe! Well, my knee has popped out for good...but it does take either force or a really long time for it to pop back in. Man, I'm sorry Stanley! I hope that your knee stays at a level 1 and doesn't progress!!!
DeleteAw man! Well at least surgery won't mess with your cute.
