Week's Worth of Catch-Up!

Happy Happy Monday Everyone!! I hope that you have all had a wonderful weekend! :-)

Domeek says that I am having a rough time in transitioning to her new schedule...to that I say "Puuuu-cha and duh!!!!" ;-) 1. I am not, in any way, shape, or form a morning puppy...and we get up before the sun...everyday! 2. I like being around her all the time and now I don't see her during the day :-( 3. My kitty siblings are taking it out on me too!!

So, I was "acting out" all weekend and even got into a mis-understanding (my words, cause I swear, I didn't mean to go all ape-s^%t on CJ) at the dog park. Domeek is feeling really bad about herself and the way her new schedule is affecting me...GOOD!!! She says that we'll get back into the swing of things again, it will just take some time. Boo!

But we spent all weekend long together, sleeping in, hanging out, going to the dog park...it was a lot of fun!

I did just realize that I never posted photos of my pawesome 5k that happened last weekend! So, today is the perfect day to show them off!!

We had a fantastic time at the event and raised a grand total of $375 (the event raised a whopping $229,000)!! WooHoo!! Thanks again to everyone who donated!! :-D

The run took place at an incredibly beautiful park in South San Jose called Hellyer (weird name!). It was massive and had a gorgeous lake right in the middle! Aw!

When we checked in, I was given a bandanna (I do not do bandannas!), which is now decorating my leash, and Domeek got a shirt!!

Freckles the Dog

Freckles the Dog

There were tons of dogs and people there!!

Freckles the Dog

Here we are at the start line (before everyone wandered over)!

Freckles the Dog

Let's do this!!

Freckles the Dog

And then we started...sorry there was no time or energy to take photos on the actual run! Good dog, that was the longest and hardest 3 and a bit miles that I have ever done! Whoa...there were dogs and people everywhere (until the mid point, where we started losing runners...hehehe)! Luckily there were water tables set up all over the place and some even had puppy biscuits to give us the energy to continue! Noms!!! ;-)

Luckily though, we finally finished...phew!! I tell you, there were a couple of points that I didn't think we were going to make it!

Freckles the Dog

Can't tell I'm exhausted...can you?! ;-)

But I was given a stuffie when we crossed the finish line!! It was pawesome (and now completely destroyed!)!

As you can see...I was super duper proud of myself on the way home!! I can now check that "Run a 5K" off my bucket list!!! :-D

Freckles the Dog

Ok guys, have a fantastic rest of the day! I'll be back for Wordless Wednesday!

Wordless Wednesday - We...Just...Can't!!

Happy Wednesday Everyone!! I hope that you are having a pawesome week so far!

So, normally I follow the rules of the whole "Wordless Wednesday BlogHop" but this week, I just can't! I'm sorry! I have too much to say, well Domeek says that this is normal for me, but bare with me!

While we were at Bark in the Park last weekend (huddled under the semi-shelter of a tree), we happened upon a volunteer from the Humane Society of Silicon Valley. This poor woman was being sent out in the downpour to tell everyone about an upcoming fundraiser and event that they were hosting and trying to find people and pups to sign up! Well, as you all know, I wasn't going anywhere fast...so she had a captive audience with Domeek and I!

Needless to say, after a few minutes, we were both excited and happily signed up!

Freckles the Dog

Walk 'n Wag is an annual 5K walk/jog and festival that the Humane Society puts on at Hellyer County Park in San Jose. The park not only has 354 acres, a creek, hosts tons of half marathons, but also has a fantabulous dog park that lots of people and pups love! :-D

Freckles the Dog
Borrowed from the HSSV website

Now, there are a ton of rescue groups and shelters in the San Francisco Bay Area that all need love and support...but let me tell you why the Humane Society of Silicon Valley totally and utterly rocks ;-) :

1. Some of my bestest friends in the entire world found their forever homes through the Humane Society of Silicon Valley!
2. HSSV finds homes for over 3,000 animals each year...that's a load of pups and kittens that needed lovin'!!
3. HSSV takes in an additional 1,000 animals each year from other rescue groups in the area that need help!
4. They believe in helping out the community!
  • They provide spaying and neutering for over 7,000 animals each year.
  • They offer discounts to military families and seniors in the county that want to adopt a new family member.
  • They teach humane education to over 8,000 kids per year and have even created a program aimed at the underserved youth in the area!
  • AND they provide free pet food to families in need that want to keep their pets in their homes!!

These are just a few of the pawesome facts about the Humane Society! :-D Feel free to buzz along their website or Twitter to discover more fab information about them!

Now, the real question becomes...how can you help out?!

Freckles the Dog

Well, let's see...you can spread the word about them, their event, or even your own local Humane Society on social media (cause, that's just easy!!)!

Freckles the Dog

If you live in the area...you can always join a team or register as an individual and walk alongside us!! ;-) The more the merrier after all!!

Freckles the Dog

Of...if you feel incredibly generous and want to help out...

You can support Domeek and my 5K!!!

(Click on the link to read our personal story!)

We only have 11 days before the event, but are trying to raise as much money as possible for all those pups and kittens that need fantastic homes and all of the other wonderful programs that the HSSV offers to the community...but remember that we can only do so with your help!! ;-)

Either way, Domeek and I will be at Hellyer Park on October 5th with our bells on...ready to cause some ruckus on that journey!!

Thanks to everyone's support and we can't wait to show you the photos!! :-D

Wordless Wednesday - Point Isabel

Happy Wednesday Everyone!!

So, this past weekend, Domeek took me to what can only be referred to as "Puppy Mecca" aka Point Isabel Regional Shoreline! We had heard about this magical place online, but had never ventured an hour North to see it for ourselves...that is, until Sunday! :-D

Freckles the Dog

The park is a 23 acre, off leash, marsh land, sea front, non-enclosed area...and I was allowed to go off leash for the first time ever!!! Oh my dog, I couldn't believe that this place was real...the smells, sounds, dogs, people!!! I tell you, if you get the chance to visit...YOU MUST!!! :-D

But what Domeek really loved, was the fact that I behaved beautifully off leash! I didn't run off, I always kept an eye and ear on her, and always returned when she called, which means that we can do it again!! :-)

Freckles the Dog

The park is in Richmond, so you can see (at least on a clear day) the beautiful San Francisco skyline.

Whoa, I was exhausted after all that trekking, sniffing, and walking! Thankfully, there's a dog friendly cafe at the entrance (called the Sit & Stay Cafe), so we had a drink and sat for a bit! Aw, it was nice!

Freckles the Dog

I can't wait to get back there again!

Have a great rest of the day guys!

A Camping We Will Go...

Happy Friday Everyone!! :-D

A couple of random things:

I had such a wonderful time at the dog park last night; I got to meet up with a couple of my oldest friends (Rizzo, Buddy, and Ricco) and run around insanely! It was so much fun, it's just sad that the evenings are coming to a close earlier now...sniff...it was practically dark at 7:45! Aw, the perils of Fall!

I've been loving reading all the blog posts and tweets about all my friends' experiences at BarkWorld.. It looks like such an pawesome conference! I can't wait to hear more!

FYI, on Saturday, Petco is going to be hosting a Summer Snow Day at 8 different stores across the country. The stores are going to be giving away free puppy ice cream, Kong demonstrations, food samples, and will be having training demonstrations...along with...a temporary snow park for your pup!! OMD...I can't wait!! I'm so happy, one of the stores is only about 30 minutes north, so Domeek, Pippi, and me are going to go and have some fun in the snow! :-D Make sure to see if there's a store near you participating!

Camping!

Freckles the Dog

Ok, onto the fun stuff...Domeek and I have finally decided that we are going to start camping! I know, most of you will be saying, but you missed the summer! Pft, no worries, I can't stand the heat - Fall is a waaaay better season anyways! ;-)

So, because we don't have any equipment and no one in our family actually camps, we have a couple of questions for all you camping fans!! :-D

First off - Tents! We'd love to hear what tents and brands you've all been happy with! Currently we're looking at the Coleman Sundome and the Suisse Sport Yosemite...both are in our budget, have pretty good reviews, are the right size/weight, and are readily available. Buuuut, if any of you have had issues or anything with them, we'd love to hear!

Secondly - Camp Stoves! Ok, Domeek has absolutely No experience with these things! So we are running around blind! :-/ Hm! I like food...does anyone have any suggestions that would stop me from starving?! Should we use a single burner, double burner, match start...? The longest time we'd be camping would be a long weekend! Eeek!!

Freckles the Dog
Um, Noms!!! ;-)

Thirdly - Tips/Suggestions/Randomness/Things You Wish You Knew when it comes to beginning camping (in general)!

Freckles the Dog
Muahaha, yes, I would sacrifice a child over moi! ;-)

Thanks so much in advance guys!! :-D We're looking forward to going, enjoying the great outdoors, hiking, and being one with nature soon!!!

Pacifica Beach

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Oh dog, did I have a blast at the beach yesterday!? :-D First off, we decided to go hiking though the hills of Pacifica. They were soooo high up, I couldn't even see the top when we first started!

Freckles the Dog

Freckles the Dog

You see that orange arrow? That's where we hiked up too! :-D And no, this lovely cement path did not go all the way up the hill! ;-)

Freckles the Dog

Understatement of the year! Hehehe!

Freckles the Dog

I was raring to go at the start!

Freckles the Dog

Yeah, that didn't last for too long!

Freckles the Dog

Oh man, I gotta take a moment dude!

Freckles the Dog

Enjoying the sites and smells!

Freckles the Dog

Up we go!!!

Freckles the Dog

Freckles the Dog

Hip Hip Horray!! We made it to the top!!! :-D I had my doubts, but somewhere near the top, Domeek says that I turned into a mountain goat...then boom, we made it! Hehehe, getting string cheese at the top didn't hurt either! ;-)

Thankfully the trip down was waaaaaaay shorter and easier than the way up (well, for me...Domeek says that the loose gravel was harder going down, but whatever!)! :-) Phew!

After hiking we decided to take a leisurely strong along the beach...if you're a surfer and haven't made it to the Pacifica Beach, then you are seriously missing out guys! :-D There were probably over 100 surfers catching waves while we were there and all of them that we met were incredibly friendly, happy, and had pups themselves!!! It was pawesome!!

Freckles the Dog

I enjoy watching and judging the quality of surfing going on! ;-) After all, I'm a California pup!! Hehehe!

All in all, I had the bestest day that a pup could ever ask for!!! :-D I hope you all did too!!

Have a great day everyone!

PeeS: I have some fun videos coming up, so make sure that you stay tuned!

Wordless Wednesday - Arastradero Preserve

Happy Wednesday Everyone!!

Domeek wanted to make sure that Miss Snickerdoodle and I had a fantastic week while she was (currently "is") staying with us, so she took us to a bunch of hiking trails, parks, and walks! Luckily we even got to venture out to a new spot...it's called the Arastradero Preserve in Palo Alto.

The preserve is a mix of steep hills, forests, valleys, and grasslands. We decided to take the steepest trail of them all. It was only about 3 miles long, but man oh man, did it feel sooooo much further!

When we first got to the preserve, there were signs that said that coyotes had been seen on some of the trails and that dogs weren't allowed on them...and then when we got into the car, the first thing that we saw when leaving the parking lot - an adolescent coyote!!!!! :-D Wowee!! I think that might have been the biggest dog that I have ever seen!!! Crazy!

We had such a wonderful time that we'll definitely be going back!

Have a great day everyone!
