A Review...A Review...Look, I Haven't Done A Review Before!

When Domeek came home this evening, she said, "Freckles, look who got some mail!" Usually the only mail I get is from the Vet's office, so she can keep those, but this was a different kind of an envelope...a big envelope!

So, I think that we "Oooo" and "Awww" for a moment, cause this envelope has turned into my very first review...ever! I've thought about doing them before, but I've been (shall we say) lazy! After all, I am still a puppy! Yep, that's my excuse and I'm going to stick with it for a couple more months! :-D

Today I'm going to be discussing my experience with Dog Tag Art! Some of you might remember that I was totally lucky enough to win Bert's "Will She, Won't She" contest, where the prize was a free personalized tag from Dog Tag Art! So this review is based on that experience!

First of all, I found that Dog Tag Art's website was an incredibly user friendly experience. If you don't have the time or the creativity to design your own custom creation, they have a plethora of ready-made artwork that is fun to choose from! You can glance through hundreds of designs under different categories such as: breed specific, cats, monograms, patterns, rescue, sports...et cetera! I found a couple that I really loved, but I wanted to take full advantage and create my own!

If you are like me, then the "create custom dog tags" tab is definitely for you! :-) It's simple! 

1. Find a photo or image that you want to use for the front of the tag
2. Upload the image onto their website
3. Check to make sure it looks good (I had to adjust the size of the image a couple of times)
4. Fill in your contact/tag information and select tag size
5. Hit "Add to Cart"

I know, hard work! ;-) If you get overwhelmed, you can browse through a load of tags that other people have created and get inspired!

The tags only cost $11.99 each and you can choose between a large (1 1/4") and small (7/8") size, because I'm on the littler side, I got the small and it was a perfect fit! An email order confirmation was immediate and the next working day they let me know that they shipped the tag! From initial design to my paws, process and shipping only took 6 days! That impressed me a lot! :-D

But you guys, I'm sure, want to see the real deal!

In my humble opinion, the design is pretty...exact! :-) And I know, my design totally rocks! Captain America a la Goose!

So, all in all, my opinion of Dog Tag Art is pretty good! I think the process is simple and quick, which are huge highlights for me and Domeek, the actual tag is well constructed and (I believe) will last for quite a while as long as you don't rub the image or words away (haha, no thumbs, so I'm good), and the company is very accessible (Facebook page, Email) just in case you need help!

If I were to find a negative it would be the design style, that is, if you don't create your own. Unlike my current tag, which is pretty sophisticated in an engraved, bronze metal, most of Dog Tag Art's designs are more animated and cartoon-like. But that's what a lot of people desire, so this could be a positive for you!

Treasure Thursday

I had a wonderful time yesterday: I went to the dog park and I got to hang out on the trails! I haven't done both in one day...ever! I wanted to be a little more adventurous this time in the forest, so I decided to climb a tree! It was pretty scary, since I'm not the greatest balancer, but after a couple of tries I succeeded! :-D

When we took a break, I also decided to go a little crazy...hehehe!

Enough talking about me though! It's Thursday, which means that it's time to feature three awesome dogs who are in dire need on a forever home! And this week that phrasing is truer than true since I decided to focus on high-kill shelters across the country! As sad as it is, there are many shelters out there that only give dogs and cats a few days before euthanizing them! :-( I don't want to get into the politics, especially since I'm only 10 months old...all that's important is that these wonderful animals are fostered or adopted out! So help a pup out and spread the word!!!

First things first, an update on last week's dogs!

• Miss Brenna with Carolina Basset Hound Rescue is still available, so if you are interested, please take a look at her page!
• Awesome Silas with the pink hair from the Small Breed Rescue of East Tennessee is also still available, so if you are interested in a spunky little terrier pup, check him out!

My first featured dog comes from around my neck of the woods in Berkeley, California. Pretty is a gorgeous rottweiler who is unfortunately an owner surrender at Berkeley Animal Care!

If you are interested in Pretty, please do not wait as this is a high-kill shelter and although she is a new listing we don't know how long this senior will have! Her photos and adoption information can be found on her page! If a large dog is not your forte, please take a look at all of the other wonderful dogs and cats available at the shelter! There are currently 50 animals listed available for adoption.

My second featured dog, Buddy, is an absolutely stunning cattle dog (just look at his photo) and is currently available from the San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas.

My final featured dog's name is Honey and she appears to be as sweet as her namesake! Honey is currently available through New York's Animal Care and Control in New York, New York (specifically Brooklyn)! 

Look at how happy and beautiful she is! :-D You can find more information about Honey through Pet Harbor's page! However, if you are looking for a smaller pup or perhaps a cat, look no further than their 143 other dogs or 230 other cats currently available!

You remember that I got a new lamby stuffy yesterday from Miss Ellen?

Well, Destructo Puppy appeared last night and...well...voila, Lamby got de-stuffed! Hehehehe...

Don't worry, Lamby is still beloved, just more "Freckles" now!

Labor Day Fun

Labor Day seems like an interesting holiday for humans: they get up late, go to the beach or to the park, hang out with friends, barbeque till their heart's content...and apparently I love it!!! Why can't everyday be Labor Day??? I, for one, would be ecstatic! :-)

This morning started out with me having a swimming lesson at the Rex Center! It was my very first open swim (aka no swimming instructor) and I was a bit nervous since I'm a little "meh" about water. But I did swell! I swam a whole lap each and every time I went into the water! That's pretty impressive for a non-water dog! :-D I even swam up to a tennis ball in the water and hit it with my nose a few times, that was pretty fun! Since I was such a good puppy, my old instructor Ellen gave me a stuffy lamb!

Then we headed off to the Pacifica State Beach (Linda Mar Beach), where there were hundreds of people and dogs...you should have seen it, they were everywhere: surfers, sunbathers, children, bicyclists, families, and pups! I couldn't keep track of them all, it was pretty overwhelming! While there I decided that I don't like strollers anymore (big, scary, and noisy), but I am enamored by surf boards! Whoa, they are beautiful and oh-so-cool!!

Domeek didn't get a photo, but there was one surfer and board, in particular, that I was in love with! I flat out refused to leave his side for about 10 minutes! Hehehe, I think I might have embarrassed a certain someone! :-) I was also brave enough to cross this really nifty stream!

I almost lost my balance a couple of times, but I crossed it all by myself! Proud puppy moment! :-)

Isn't the scenery absolutely beautiful? I would love to live so close to the beach! I would wake up every morning, go running on the sand, and collect crabs (I love crabs)! Perhaps, one day! :-)

When we got home, it was time for the barbeque to begin! Sadly, I didn't get my very own burger, but Domeek did give me a good piece of her's and it was absolutely delicious!! I was also given a hunk of watermelon, because supposedly pups like watermelon, but honestly I wasn't that interested!

Those Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer

Boy oh boy was it hot today! And I mean HOT! It's been feeling like fall for the past couple of days and then, voila, today the temperature raised 20 degrees! Icky! That meant that I spent most of my day basking in the shade outside.

After it took me 10 minutes to look for my ball, I figured something out...

I'll give you a hint...

It's like Where's Waldo, where oh where can Freckles be!? Hehehe, I think it's about time for Domeek to mow the lawn, don't you think? :-)

When the temperature finally lowered we made the trek out to the dog park! Look at me fly!!

And found an awesome stick to chew on!

 

Since today is Labor Day we will be doing the patriotic thing and barbequing! I can't wait to eat my very own hamburger; yeah, I'm still working on that one with Domeek! :-) I hope you all enjoy the Bank Holiday and make sure to love on your human/pup!!!

A Lazy Saturday Means Meet The Family

[Yawn] Well it's been a really lazy Saturday over here! I've, pretty much, been comatose for the good part of the entire day; hey sometimes you need an all day nap!

I personally blame my brothers since they kept me up most of the night due to late night shenanigans. You should have heard the racket: boom, bam, crash, meow, hiss. Who knows what they were doing though! I woke up a few times and gave them a piece of my mind, but then I got in trouble too! :-/

I did get a chance to hit the dog park this evening though! It was a lot of fun, I met four news pups who were super exciting! We all decided that chase was the game of the moment! :-D

  

So, because I was super boring today, I thought I would take the opportunity to introduce you to my brothers - the evil three! Since I talk about them so much, I figure you might as well put a name to the face!

Please meet Ginger:

I've talked about Ginger quite a few times already (Mr. Meany, diabetes), but he's quite a character! He likes to tell you exactly what he's thinking at each moment of the day, even if it's the middle of the night or if you don't want to listen to him! He's very temperamental and has an attitude and a half! But since he got back from the vet, we've been getting along a lot better (well, except for this morning, when he smacked me across the face!).

Please meet Otter:

  

Otter is hilarious! He's the girliest girl you will ever meet, even though he's a boy! ;-) He likes playing in Domeek's make-up and had this "thing" for hair dye, especially when he was younger! Once he went a whole month (years before I was born) with a blue streak across his face! It's too bad we never got a photo of it! He's also a major kleptomaniac, just like a certain cat I know via Goose and Bert: Allred! He's stolen countless bits of jewelry: rings, earrings...!

Please meet Pumpkin:

Pumpkin came to my house a scared, pretty starved, and semi-feral kitten! He was a sad little guy! :-( It took quite a few weeks, but eventually Pumpkin learned that Domeek was awesome and only wanted to love him! Now he is the coolest cat you will ever find - he's my total buddy! :-)

So there you guys are...my brothers (now that I've introduced them to the world, hopefully they'll get off my back)!
