Que Delicioso :-D

Happy Thursday Everyone!! :-D

So, my dear cousin Miss Snickerdoodle is back at her own home! She left last night and was super ecstatic to see her Momma again!

Freckles the Dog

I hate to say it, but I kind of miss the little squirt! :-/ My kitty brothers and sister however, tell a different tale...they are absolutely thrilled to have the house back again! Hehehe! She did enjoy going (as Domeek says) Psycho B@#ch on them! Muahahaha! :-D

If you remember, Domeek and I are now going "homemade" with my food and so far, we're having a blast and enjoying all the new nummies! :-) This week, we used Feed Your Best Friend Better cookbook again and made Rick Woodford's Lazysagne! Oh man...if you are interested or into homemade dog food, then you have to check his cookbook out! This recipe rocks!

Freckles the Dog

So, granted, I haven't tried human lasagna...but I don't think it could taste much better than this! :-D It has egg noodles, ground turkey, spinach, tomatoes, cottage cheese, and a bunch of spices in it! Can't you just smell the deliciousness?! Yummy!!

Freckles the Dog

Snickerdoodle and I couldn't wait to eat it all! Let's just say, the bowls were clean when we were done with them! Hehehe!

Freckles the Dog

We definitely gave it 4 paws up and now have a week or more's worth of stockpile!

Then...cause she had all the ingredients lying around, Domeek made us some Blueberry puppy cookies!

Freckles the Dog

What I love about them, is that they are crunchy on the outside and ooey gooey on the inside! :-)

Yep, we were certainly lucky and happy puppies!

Ooooo, question to those of you on the homemade diet...is there a multivitamin that you suggest or take? We're a little confused with all the ideas and nonsense on the internets!

Thanks!

Tasty Tuesday - Give Us A Kiss...Smooch!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!!

I hope that you've all been having a fantastic week! ;-)

So, last week, Domeek went out to the local bookstore and bought a fun new book...get this, for Me!! Oh yeahs! The book is called Feed Your Best Friend Better by Rick Woodford, the self proclaimed Dog Food Dude! It's full of nutritional information and recipes for people who want to either feed their pups completely homemade or partially homemade.

Freckles the Dog

We've already learnt tons of new things...like, did you know that terriers should avoid liver treats? Pft, I had no idea...and I'm a friggin' terrier!! Supposedly, we are preconditioned to accumulate excessive amounts of copper in our livers, which can result in some nasty illnesses, so treats with liver in them should be avoided! Gasp!

We've also already tested out two of the recipes, the first was a blueberry pancake that I could share with Domeek (that was Saturday's breakfast!), can you say nummy?! ;-)

And the second is called French Kiss Cookies...cause it helps give pups some lovely fresh breaths!

Ingredients:
1 cup of Beef, Chicken, or Fish Stock (make sure it doesn't contain onion) - I chose chicken stock
1 cup of finely chopped Fresh Parsley
1 cup of finely chopped Fresh Mint
2 tablespoons Canola Oil
2 1/3 cups of Whole Wheat Flour (plus more for rolling out)

Directions:

First you have to chop, heat, and combine all the ingredients...

Then you have to knead the dough and roll into a ball...

Freckles the Dog

Roll the dough out and cut into your preferred shape, I chose bones and fire hydrants! ;-)

After throwing them in the oven for about 25 - 45 minutes (30 minutes made the cookies crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle), let them cool...

...and EAT!!!

Nom Noms!!!

Seriously dudes and dudettes...you all know how picky an eater I am, but man, I devoured these cookies!! :-D Every time that Domeek goes into the kitchen, I keep thinking that I am going to get another one...hehehe!!

You guys all have to try this stuff!!! ;-)

Ok guys, I'm off to bother Domeek again...have a great Tuesday!! :-D

OMD...June 7th Is A Magical Day!

TGIF Everyone!!! :-D

Well, I was perusing Facebook this morning, when I discovered that today...June 7th...is the happiest day on Earth!! Have you heard the news???

Freckles the Dog

Hecks Yeah!!!

Can you believe it? There's actually a day that is completely and utterly devoted to all things Doughnut!! :-D Que Delicioso!!!

So, now that you are all absolutely starving and salivating over the keyboard, how can you celebrate this fantastic day?!

As most of you know...it's probably not the best idea to shove an entire box of human doughnuts down your throat (whether you are a dog or, come to think of it, a human), but there are a couple of really great pup recipes and ideas on the market!

I was given a pup doughnut from Petco for my last birthday, it was fabulous, and relatively inexpensive at only $4.99 for the entire container!

But, if you want a treat that's a little healthier...or one that you actually know what the ingredients are, then I suggest taking a look at Dr. V and Brody's doughnut recipe! :-D

There's only 7 ingredients needed for this fantastic (and beautiful) recipe and I'm pretty sure that you have most of them in your pantries already! Brody gives them 2 GIANT paws up...so how can you say "No"?

I'm going to try and convince Domeek to make me and cousin Pippi some this weekend...better late than never! ;-)

Well, I'm going to relax at Starbucks for a bit and then hit the doggie park...try to stay out of all this crazy heat, especially if you live in California!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Today was, once again, such a busy day!

I had a swimming lesson in the morning at The Rex Center. If you live in the Bay Area and either need some physical therapy or a place to relax and have a fun time in the water with your human, then definitely check them out! I’m a really good swimmer, but honestly I don’t know why Domeek keeps taking me to the pool. I just don’t get why you want to get in a big bath!?

After a short nap, I helped with some yard work, as a supervisor (of course!), and then it was off to the store to get all of the ingredients that I needed for my puppy quiches! Cause, I was really hungry after all that work!

There are so many delicious things in those quiches~!! I especially liked having extra cheese thrown in! Then it was the waiting game…I had to wait…and wait…and wait…it felt like forever!!!!! Even though Domeek says it was only 15 minutes, it felt like an hour! Look at my big, sad eyes!

Domeek says that there are a couple of differences, from the recipe, that she found while making them (I MADE them though!): first of all, the recipe says that it makes 12 quiches, but unless they are mini-muffin pans, they only make 9 small quiches. They also tend to get stuck to the bottom of the pan, even with olive oil, so Domeek is going to put them in muffin cups next time. Here they are, close up!

I couldn’t believe that they smelt soooooo good…as soon as I was offered one, I gobbled it all up!!!! YUM!

Next up for me is a walk around the neighborhood! :-) Make those yummy quiches for yourself!!!

I’m currently begging Domeek to go and make some of these delicious delectables for me!!! Just look at them! Yummmmm…

They have everything that I could ever dream about in them…well, except I’m asking her to put some cheeeeeese in it too! [I LOVE cheese]

All you need are these ingredients:
~ 6-7 turkey chips (you can substitute 1/4 cup of cooked meat or chicken if you’re between orders)
~ 2 large eggs
~ 1/3 cup green beans cut into small pieces ( you can substitute any fresh or thawed frozen, dog safe veggie)
~ 1/4 cup cottage cheese
~ 1 teaspoon olive oil to coat the pan.

Then you put them in the oven and voila…out pops numminess for me! :-) Domeek says that there’s a bit more you need to do, so follow this link to the “real” instructions! If you make any for your little dude, then send some over to me too!!! Please! :-)

Recipe care of Dog Pack Snacks, which, by the way, look so delicious too!!!
