Treasure Thursday

Another week, another set of beautiful pups that need homes and loving families! Welcome to Treasure Thursday!

I'm sad to say that none of the three featured dogs from last week were adopted, but that could be wonderful news if you haven't had the chance to take a look at them!
  • Batman (Northern California), I'm sure due to his medical issues, is still available and in need of the perfect home that will nurture and give him confidence! Please take a look at his information here
  • The beautiful Bella Bambina (New York) is still available and looking for the greatest forever home! Please take a look at her here!
  • Shasta (Pacific Grove, CA) is also still looking for her perfect family; she needs a little comfort and familiarity in her life. Can you help? Find her information here!

Our first featured dog's name is Loba, she is living in the windy city of Chicago, and is being rescued by PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) Chicago!

If you are interested in taking a closer look at the wonderful and goofy Loba, please take a look at her personal page! If her energy level doesn't wet your appetite, don't worry PAWS Chicago have a fantastic set of both dogs and cats!

My second featured pup, Tank (how cool is his name), is located in central Florida at The Florida Humane Society

He's totally like a pirate, arrrrrggggg! If you would love to take Tank home, please check out his page, but if you are a bit scared of pirates or are on the lookout for a feline friend, feel free to check out the other dogs and cats available!

My final featured pet's name is Georgia and she is one adorable pittie girl! She is located at the wonderful Humane Society Pikes Peak Region in Colorado Springs, CO.

Look at that face...awwwww...Georgia's personal adoption page can be found here! However, if you are looking for an older mutt, have no worries, the Humane Society has plenty of adult dogs, cats, and other animals (like horseys) looking for their perfect home!

Just as a reminder, if you live in the Colorado Springs area, the Humane Society is having a wonderful event this weekend! Find your BFF (Best Feline Friend) for FREE!!

Thanks as always for checking out the fantastic animals that are available all over the US! If you know of any dog that you would like featured next week, please pass along their information and I will try to present them! :-D

Social Media...Who'd Have Thunk!

Sorry for the really late post guys, Domeek had to stay at work for soooooo many hours tonight! Boo!

Boy, has the last couple of days been full of new friends and learning about all this social media stuffs!

I tell you, before two days ago, I never stepped foot on Facebook (maybe I snuck a look at Domeek's posts but that was the extent of it) and now I have over 90 new friends from all over the world! That's kind of amazing for such a small pup! I've never been out of Northern California and now I get to talk to dogs and kitties from Russia, Hong Kong, Hawaii, and Alaska! Do you want to know what I've discovered? We're all the same, wherever we're from...we all love dog parks, bacon, snuggles, and meeting new people! Domeek says that the world is such a small place and now I'm starting to believe it too! :-)

Then there's Twitter, which is a pretty confusing website...so many people talking all at the same time, it's like being in a room full of loud people! Hehe, I'm trying to pick it up though! And then there's all of you guys! I like the Blogger website! I go to one page and see all of your new posts immediately, I don't have to go to multiple places, which is awesome for a lazy pup! ;-)

Switching gears a bit!

This evening, I got to go to the Bay Trail! It's so exciting to go there, it's full of wild animal smells, nature, other people and dogs, runners, bikes...I have to criss cross in front of Domeek because there is so much to see, sniff, and do!

Don't you just want to run all over the place?! I know I did, this is what Domeek calls "warp speed Goose!"

I found a delicious stick to chew, got totally freaked out by a giant rock that I thought was a monster or troll or something equally scary, and saw some duckies!

I finally gave Domeek a face shot, but you have to be quick! :-)

I surveyed my land before hopping back into the car, I was very pleased with what I saw!

Have a great sleep time everyone!

Half Moon Bay Fun

Sleepy seaside town = fun day on the town for a pup!

We started off with a gentle walk down Main Street: saying hello to all the tourists, smelling all the delicious lunches being made, having a good sniff of some hometown dogs, and peeing on a few great bushes!

Then it was off to the coffee shop for some caffeine and muffins, as you can tell, I totally enjoyed myself! And after, the dog park! This is one of my favorite dog parks ever, it's in the middle of a field of wild flowers, has tons of dog toys, and look at that view! Perfect! :-)

I met lots of pups that were awesome! This is Crawford, Schnitzel, and me playing "catch me if you can," I was it! We were all between 8 and 9 months old and had the same energy - GO GO GO!

More pups: Jeb the long haired Shar Pei (I had no clue they came with fur), Rocky the older terrier mix, Mae the shy pup on the right, and finally a dog that was not good at sharing his ball on the left!

Schnitzel was trying to ride this huge lab/Great Dane mix! Hehehe...everyone was laughing!

Embarrassing shot...thanks Domeek! Happy Monday everyone!

Look Who's A Graduate!

Well, it's official...I've mastered yet another puppy training class...and I'm one proud graduate!

Class started off as normal: puppy burpees (sit, down, sit, stand), calming down on our "place", walking around the group in a heel position, and working on our stay from distances (hehehe, I don't like doing this...sometimes I just get up and walk over to Domeek or to my favoritist trainer, Diane.)

Showing off my down-stay!

But, then we started having some fun in class! We got to play games :-) !!! The first game: we started off on one side of the room, had to walk in a heel position until we got to the center, then had to go to "front" and then either "swing" or "finish", and then continue to the other side of the room in heel. Sounds easy right? Haha, try adding to this, Domeek had to carry the leash and a spoon with an egg on it in the same hand, the entire way! And We WON!! We were brilliant! We were at least a minute quicker than the rest of the group!!! I was so excited because we never do the best in class!!! And guess what? I won a prize too! I got to go to a tub full of toys and pick one out...I chose an awesome, plush, blue and pink, squeaky bone!

The second game was musical chairs (I won this game back in puppy 1), but all I wanted to do was chew on my new toy! So when the music started, we had to walk around all the chairs in a heel position, then when the music stopped our human was to put us in a sit (or down) stay, and then go sit in a chair. But if we got up, then they had to abandon their chair, put us back in the position, and go and find another open chair. Well, we didn't even last one round. As soon as my butt hit the floor, I got up immediately and followed Domeek...I did this the entire round! :-) Soooo...I got to sit on my place and chew my new toy, while the others had to walk and sit/stay! Hehe, I think I got the best deal!

Don't I look sweet?! :-)

After an emergency recall relay, it was then time to show off! We got to get up in the middle of the group and do whatever we thought was cool, interesting, awesome, and/or spectacular! I did the typical sit/down/stand, then I spun around and around both ways, then I went to "front", "finish", and "swing", and then I danced up on my hind legs! Yeah! No one else danced! :-)

Finally it was graduation time! Diane played Pomp and Circumstance and we went up to get our diplomas, one by one, and then took a photo! Of course, Domeek's camera died as soon as the button was pushed (Boooooo Domeek!!), luckily one of the other puppy parents took a picture, but you will all have to wait until I get my adorable photo emailed!

Before the camera died

When I got home, I was so exhausted after all that mental and physical work, that I just passed out under the kitty tree with my new bone and didn't wake up for a couple of hours! Phew!

Tomorrow I have a swimming lesson, then we hopefully get to stop off at Half Moon Bay before coming home! I love Half Moon Bay! There's an awesome puppy park by the beach, where tons of fun pups hang out, then we normally head off to a tavern that has an outdoor dog bar area!

Have a great Sunday everyone!!

Friday Links

Happy Friday Everyone!  hope you get to have a good roll in the grass too!

I spent two whole hours at the dog park last night and let me tell you, it was so much fun! I got to meet and hang out with a shepherd mix and blue heeler from Texas who were here on vacation, then there were all my regular park friends, and then there was a new husky mix too! It was so much fun that I completely ignored Domeek when she told me it was time to go...nope, not me! :-)

Today is all about R&R, especially since the rain is coming and there might even be thunderstorms, which is kind of scary! :-/ I just hope that there's enough time for me to go out and have a short walk before I need to use my raincoat.

Here's a list of all my favorite fun and interesting stories that have been going around the internet this week!

Friday Links:
  • My brother, Pumpkin, wants to remind you that it's Black Cat Appreciation Day! Lots of shelters and rescues are doing great deals on future best buddies!
  • An Ohio judge stands up for dog fighting rules and penalties!
  • Think you know what a pit bull looks like? Take this test and see! (I didn't even get it right, and I'm a dog)
  • One of the largest puppy brokers are closing down for good!
  • Does your pup's name affect how others view him/her? I know my name does! Silly people! :-)
  • Canada is seeing an influx of pet-food banks opening their doors.
  • Do you live in Pennsylvania and like tattoos and piercings? Great, then this event is for you!!!
  • Do you want a custom piece of artwork with your face on it (I know I do)? Check out Lili's art!

Treasure Thursday

Hope everyone is having an awesome week!

So, once again it's Thursday, which means it's time to show off some awesome dogs and cats that are in desperate need of permanent forever homes! :-) But before I begin, I wanted to give you all an update on the three pups that I featured last Thursday!
  • Toby with Northern California Family Dog Rescue is still up for adoption, so if you didn't take the opportunity, check out his bio on last week's page!
  • Unfortunately Sparkey with the San Francisco SPCA is also still available, so once again, head over to last week's Treasure Thursday for more information!
  • Drum roll please...Lana with the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA was adopted in the last couple of days...YEAH Lana!!! Congratulations!!! Enjoy the new home!
One out of three isn't too bad! This week though, let's try for two adoptions! :-)

My first featured dog this week is named Batman! A very cool name for a very cool dog! You might have actually seen him in the news recently, that's how Domeek and I saw Batman for the very first time! Batman is being adopted through Love and Second Chances Rescue in Northern California.

He's got wheels and knows how to use them! :-) I want to meet this guy, so badly! To take a closer look at Batman, please visit his page! If you are interested in other types of dogs, don't worry, Love and Second Chances have a lot of other dogs to take a look at! Please visit their adoptions page for more information!

My second featured dog is Bella Bambina, isn't her name so romantic? She's a beautiful girl with Abandoned Angels Rescue in New York!

If you would like more information about Bella, please visit their website and search under her name. If Bella isn't your type of pup, but you would like to take a look at the other dogs available, please visit their adoptions page and take a look at all the wonderful dogs!

My last featured dog this week is Shasta with Animal Friends Rescue Project out of Pacific Grove (near Santa Cruz)! AFRP is participating in the ASPCA and Rachel Ray's 100K challenge, they are hoping to have 618 adoptions before October 31st, can we help them with one more?!

If you would like to take a closer look at the beautiful Shasta, please visit her webpage and search under "Shasta"! But if you would like to see some of their other fabulous cats and dogs available, please visit their cat adoption page and dog adoption page!

Thank you, as always, for visiting my second Treasure Thursday post...let's see about getting the word out and having these gorgeous puppies and kittens in forever homes before next week's post!?
